How I Feel: The EP

How I Feel: The EP

South Coast rapper Zuby is continuing his invasion of the underground
UK hip-hop scene with his third release ‘How I Feel: The EP.’

The 23 year old rapper is an anomaly in the urban music scene in the
UK, firstly because he was educated in Saudi Arabia giving him a
hybrid Anglo-American accent, and secondly because he graduated from
Oxford University with a degree in Computer Sciencein 2007.

He does not consider himself to be a “conscious rapper,” but instead a
“rapper with a conscience,” who has been taking the underground by
storm for the past four years, since the release of his first single
‘Steppin’ To Me” in 2005 [CHECK].

Across the country t-shirts sporting the now famous words “I’m down
with Zuby, are you?” are being worn following a two-year
street-selling campaign that has turned him into a local celebrity in
many cities across the nation.

Unlike the rapper’s previous two albums – ‘The Unknown Celebrity’ and
‘Commercial Underground’ - ‘How I Feel’ is to be distributed
for free, with the artist looking to further expand his fan base.

“Until now” he said, “most people who have bought my music have met me out on
the street and become a fan that way. Street-selling is a great way to
market music because you get to have so much interaction with your
fans, but with this album I want to entice new listeners outside of
the places I’m well known.”

The new EP shows a massive musical maturity in the artist, with an
upgrade in the beats department and almost Americanised production
values representing the commercial aspects of Zuby’s sound.

His rhyming patterns vary from song to song with the rapper
demonstrating his versatility to switch emotional tones from the
light-hearted signature track of the album “Rock Star”, to the
politically-fuelled “Divided We Stand.”

“I was playing that game Rock Band,” he said “and I was jumping around
the room pretending to be a rock star… I shouted across the room to
one of my friends ‘when I grow up I wanna be a rock star’ and the song
kind of grew from there.”

“Divided We Stand” shows a furious side to Zuby’s music, documenting
an incident in 2008 that grabbed national media attention after armed
Police mis-identified the rapper for a gunman getting off of a train
in Bournemouth.

‘How I Feel – The EP’ has already received substantial interest from
the hip hop community and has got the country saying “I’m down
with Zuby… Are you?
