Imaj started his journey with music performing in the vocal and keyboard duo 2Gifted. While the group had a nice mellow sound, there was a need for more. This is where Imaj began producing and arranging. Now, you can find Imaj as the keyboardist for the dynamic, 4-piece band The Undertone. He is also part of the genius production duo Brothers Clem. And Non-Performing, a forceful and innovative composing project that has written the soundtracks for several short films.
It took a while, but Imaj finally decided that he wanted to do a solo album, The 'I'. (Release in early 2008) If you take Neo-Soul, Hip-Hop, Spoken Word and a few other things in the category of Unreal, you have a sound that cannot be easily described. "I like to call it "Dif-Hop", Imaj says.
On this album he could express himself in a much different way than usual. In the past he used only his music to tell his story and explain his thoughts. The 'I' would be the first time where his words as well as his music could be heard together. There i
