Kirtan is call/response music taken from East India. In this Americanized version of Kirtan I begin in Sanskrit morphed into English and ended in Ojibwe, making it truly an American version of Kirtan. Underneath the music is the heartbeat call of the Native American ceremonial drum. In the 2nd verse, I added my Native American flute to give it a unique flavor. THEN, the crowning touch? I invited Kaita Bliffert and Bhavani Hope (experienced Kirtan artists in their own right) to join me. These two took the chant to a whole new level. They were so good that the engineer, Marc Golde, and I decided to separate them out for an outro that is celestial.
