There is no band or given combination of musicians for any song on this collection. The music has been developed organically – each separate and independent input has sparked the possibility to choose another musician to “comment” on what is there. These pieces has been developed in this way over years and could therefore rightfully be named “slow art”. Eric Forsmark has been using this process of making music since 1987. It is quite simple. He starts with creating a platform for the collaborators: a pulsating soundscape mainly constructed with a range of odd percussion and rudimentary harmonies plus sounds that hint towards a sentiment, environment or style. He then hands it over to a collaborator without any instructions on how to navigate in this soundscape. There can even be 8-16 bars of near silence, challenging the collaborator to come up with something unique and different.
