Greatest Hits, Vol. 1
Perhaps you don’t recognize the name “Lil Buck and the Topcats.” Bandleader Paul “Lil Buck” Sinegal played guitar with Clifton Chenier for years and is one of the greatest axe-slingers on the blues scene today. Speaking of wailin’ discs, collectively, this is the band responsible for the impossibly great, funky as all hell "Monkey In a Sack " and “ Cat Scream,” (also originally released on La Louisianne), which has lately been making all kinds of waves with funk, soul and hip-hop DJs the world over.
Ira Padnos – Ponderosa Stomp
Not enough people know it, but Paul “Lil Buck” Sinegal (alternately spelled “Senegal” is one of Louisiana’s most versatile guitar players. With a career that has spanned five decades and produced hundreds of recordings, Lil’ Buck has garnered a reputation for mastering just about every musical style that’s come out of his native Louisiana. He assembled his first group, The Jive Five, in 1959, and the fifteen piece Top Cats were essentially a fraternal collection of R&B greats.
