My bubba
My bubba; Swedish My and Icelandic Bubba, met by chance 5 years ago in Copenhagen, joined vocals and suitcases and have been traveling together since - singing their contemporary folk songs all around Europe and the US, most recently at Iceland Airwaves, Roskilde Festival and supporting Matthew E. White in Germany.\r \r The songs are sparse, allowing their delicate voices and entrancing harmonies to take center stage, sharing curious stories of their adventurous spirit in alluringly sultry sounds. Simple and direct, but rich in layers, their general folksiness belies a modern savvy that gives it all a refreshing edge. \r \r My bubba’s second full length album Goes Abroader comes out in April 2014, was recorded in California and produced by Noah Georgeson (Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom). The songs were written during Scandinavian winter months and dream of warm, exotic places. Each one works as a souvenir or postcard from an imaginary jungle, desert or galaxy, making the record something of a trip around the world, with My bubba\r \r It all started a couple of years ago in Copenhagen, when Bubba happened to move into My's apartment. They started spending evenings together humming homely hymns, and soon found themselves in Italy making a record; the very lovely 'How it's done in Italy'. Since then they have been adventuring about and around, playing hundreds of club shows and festivals in Europe and USA. In 2011 they released single ‘Bob’ and EP ‘Wild & You’. At the same time, My works as a train driver, and Bubba as an adman. In 2013 they have, with exotic inspirations, recorded their second full length album in LA with producer Noah Georgeson (Devendra Banhart, Joanna Newsom) and played Roskilde Festival and Iceland Airwaves.
