Enrico Fissore was born in Bra, Italy and studied at the Turin Conservatory. He won numerous singing prizes and began his career by specialising in baroque opera and moving into the repertoire of Mozart and Rossini. He has been one of the world's leading Italian basses for many years and is in demand by leading conductors and opera houses. He is a highly experienced performer and has excelled in a variety of roles ranging from the basso-buffo repertoire to the darker tragic roles, including Leporello DON GIOVANNI which he sang at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich under Wolfgang Sawallisch and Bartolo LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, conducted by Peter Schneider also in Munich. He was invited by James Levine to appear at the Metropolitan Opera New York in Verdi LA FORZA DEL DESTINO which was subsequently recorded for video with a star-studded cast headed by Leontyne Price. He was later invited back to the Met for performances of L'ELISIR D'AMORE.
