Sonoma County Covers Project (Explicit)
In the Summer of 2013, my bride and I attended a concert at the Occidental Center For The Arts. It was up-and coming David Luning sharing the bill with been-round-awhile Greg Abel. Each singer-songwriter did a set of originals, then they teamed up for the finale. They performed one of my favorite songs, Greg's "Last Call Dance Hall"; Greg and David each sang a verse. When David sang, the song had a different feel; a unique vibe. It was that night that the Sonoma County Covers Project gestated in my old dome.
I will assemble musical pals and ask them to pay tribute to an influential songwriter from the area by recording a cover song. The response was humbling: Everybody wanted to contribute a tune. Assembling the music was a challenge. My plan was to cut it off at about 15 songs. One CD, not too long. Well, guess what happened? The songs kept coming and the project kept expanding.
We ended up with 27 songs, two of them finished the day the CD was being mastered!
I hope you dig the results.
